Servers Questions and Resolves

Where is the server located?

Is it the same server for all GraalOnline Games?

How much can the server support before it collapses?

Would it be possible to increase that limit by x2 to make the game more enjoyable?

Would it be difficult to setup an EU server?

If not, then is the problem money?

If not, then why?

Note: The servers really need an upgrade, otherwise people might stop playing. That is not a threat, just a statement.

4300 online often for some reason. game is at the point where walking into a tower teleports you to the flag room.

IP ban all the players in the bank, burger refuge, under the bridge, train station (especially those military guilds), in front of the arena and then we can have less players for less lag.

Or

Upgrade servers to withhold a capacity of 10K players

Maybe they don't want to spend money...?

I think its stupid that no one can come up with answers, if anything, if the game experience was really smooth, surely it would attract more players, no?

Tell me if I am wrong!

Was hoping someone could answer these questions, makes it look like some staff know what's going on, but aren't ¿allowed? to answer any questions about the server?

i dont think anyone who uses this forum knows this information. My assumption is Unixmad and the other player world admins (MysticalDragon) would know. Maybe the managers as well, but I never heard anything about it when i worked on Zone. All conversations held with Unixmad are usually done by the Managers on business other than the servers inability for smooth gameplay.

I believe that Graal's servers are hosted either in Dallas, or Paris... I can't remember which one of those cities it was though.

Other questions though would have to be asked to Stephane, since I am sure that no in game staff; or even PWA's know about Graal Online's financial situation.

Rufus addressed this before, saying that Stefan didn't understand how poorly the game runs for players, and that Stefan has never been given any evidence to suggest that this is a widespread issue.

He doesn't work with Graal anymore though, so I don't know if there is much that can be done.

Here is the thread.

here take this map, and geolocate them, this doesn't account for mirrors, or cache cloud, and could be proxy servers. Delteria is apparently hosted in Montréal.

there are millions of server hosting services out there, if you have the bandwidth and the machinery you could set up a hosting service yourself.having servers (and mirrors) located throughout the world reduces server lag, (otherwise it would bottleneck). It sounds like you need to get a better internet connection.

1. I'm not sure where the servers are located, but my best guess would be France. GraalOnline uses a proxy service based in Texas to mask the IP Address.

2.The same server is not used for all GraalOnline games. Some Graal PC Servers are hosted on the same server as others, hence the different Graal Ports, but major Graal games such as GraalOnline Classic Mobile are hosted on individual servers.

3. I'm not sure, but servers can only take so many clients before they stop working. It all depends on the server specifications.

4. The limit can of course increase to two times its current size, but that requires upgrading the hardware, or improving the server software. Many problems arise from the limitations of the client. There are only so many players the client can render before it becomes laggy.

5. Probably not, but it doesn't make sense to start an EU server. GraalOnline won't profit from that.

I think you're mainly concerned about client lag, which can't be fixed without significant improvements to the client software.

So iClassic needs better hardware for their server, and for their software engineers to work harder at improving it? Someone told me that the server was in texas.

What iClassic has... oh hey look it's dootsy trying to look like steve jobs.

I bet the Enterprise had better servers even in 1987. Bet they had Graal 3D too.

And for the next gen I leave you with this.

Back in 2005, on Zone, people complained about Graal's performance around Stefan. He said that he could run Graal on a Pentium 3 and Windows 98.

Yep...

I don't care if you're 100% more experienced than me, I will never take anyone using a Macbook seriously when it comes to this kind of stuff.
