Discovering The World (Map Update idea)

Ever played minecraft? Course you have...

Well ever noticed how when you have a map, the whole world isn't shown.

You won't be able to see all of Graal, once you start the game (New players)
You have to explore that area in order to see it on your map.

So, do you guys think it would be cool to have this feature? As a way to get players to explore the world. Could be great for an achievement too.

Making the players experience a sense of adventure beyond the walls of graal city bank, and burger refuge.

Think of it more for the new players, not really for people who have already seen most of Graal. This way though, you might see a blank spot on your map, indicating that you still have areas to discover.

I like the idea of that! Could make graal more fun if they'd occasionally open areas that you have to unlock, especially for long time players who are bored a ton of the time

How much effort would go into making it?
What would the effect be?
How would it change gameplay?

It would be similar to other content - the map doesn't serve much point after ~500 hours when you know your way everywhere (except for identifying friend locations and who has what tower). Having dark clouds covering most of it for the first hour of exploration might be a lot more effort than it would be worth?

I did not vote, as I felt the options to be limited.

I stated how it would affect gameplay on the first post?...

It's mostly for the new players + people who probably haven't searched all of Graal's areas. Won't be dark clouds either, I feel like the current clouds would be the best option to cover most of the map (When you start a new account).

That being said.

I don't have the slightest idea on how hard it could be to implement.

BUT, from the looks of it, it might be something that would take up space in cache for having the images saved of where you have been on your map, instead of a set image.
Because I think in minecraft, the sky pretty much places the blocks onto the map like a picture from above.

The effect would be adventure, like I said, think of this update as if you were a new player starting out. You have no idea what lies beyond that forest, you will have to travel across lands to unravel those mysteries.

Changing gameplay? For beginners, a lot. As for the new players, every time a new area is added (Snowtown, Deadwood, York, Destiny), they can go around the world and explore that new area. Could also be used for achievements "Christopher Columbus" (Example).

Christopher Columbus was an evil man

you mean like ocarina of time where there is just a giant cloud for a map but as you explore new areas of hyrule you can see new areas

Craftz 10-25-2015 02:54 PM

If you used the current clouds, how would new players know what areas are on the map and what are off?

nice idea

I think for this idea to work well graal would need to be way bigger. And that could mean just bigger distances between towns. Stuff like that along with this map idea would really make graal good I think

this is the default behaviour of maps on graal, i found it annoying in the past but it does add a little sense of adventure

Probably wouldn't have been as annoying if it didn't reset all the time.
