is optimum going ***** cause verizon is on strike?

bs. i just called in to ask some questions about the offer they sent me(turns out im not eligible) and their attitude was crap. i know graalians isn't yelp, but this is how bad i am pissed. my mom and dad is considering to change the service if verizon is back on. this is why Americans change their service every 2 years. their business practices are filthy. they don't care about long time regular customers, all they care about is the new customers. screw their business.

and also they better stop saying 'four ninety five' it sounds like $495(??), why can't they just say 'five additional dollar a month'. i called in for lower price/promotion for existing customer, not an additional service for low price. they are dumb as ****.

I got TWC TV. I want Verizon but it's not where I live yet. I've never had a good service from any company yet.

my uncle had TWC and when i go there to babysit my cousin the internet was unstable af. so he changed to verizon.

i live near NYC, so we have all the companies here, but Verizon and Optimums are the only strong competitors.

Yea TWC used to be good, then all of a sudden the past few years have been ****. My wifi modem used to go out every day; I'd have to unplug every cord, then plug it back in. Our TV has been screwing up lately too. Got it fixed after about 4 visits from them, but now (a few months later) some of my channels are freezing. I used to have DirecTV and that's the best near me, but it still sucks because lf the dish and weather can cause TV to go out. I'm basically just waiting for Verizon to come...

one thing i dont envy is the state of north america's internet infrastructure...or lack of.

Don't have to worry about that if you have money and live in New England. There's only Comcast. :^)

Are they any good? Comcast is in NYC in fact, however they don't advertise as much as Verizon or Optimum. So I am not sure.

Keep switching between Optimum and Verizon every 2 year might be good. This way you only have to pay ~$90 a month for 2 years ($165 a month after promotion), then switch to the rivalry company, which they will sometimes offer things like free ipad, free iphone etc. Also for $100/mo and you get 100Mbps internet speed, phone and TV.

My parent sticked with Optimum for 6 years (Residential). My parent used Verizon (Business) like 2-3 years ago, but then they switched because Verizon had such a bad customer service and Optimum was kept trying to make them change. So they did, which was a very good decision at the time.

Now it's pretty convincing to switch back to Verizon since Optimum is being **** because Verizon is on the strike. Like I could clearly tell from their voice. I could tell that they don't want to treat me because I already have a service and expecting a lower price/promotion.

I've never had any problems with Comcast, but I hear the folks on the West don't like 'em much.

I heard Korea's was way better.

Just googled the verizon strike since I didn't know what it was about, and saw some people saying they had just cancelled optimum and now can't get verizon installed until late August. I'd be pissed.

That's true, im out west and comcast is awful. Services are fast for where i am(38 MB download, 10 MB upload) but they drop for 10 minutes every hour. It's the most annoying they I've dealt with in my life.

We have CenturyLink now, which is 10 download and 3 upload, but is as consistent as they come.

Overall Zetetic you're right, most companies are much more worried about their future consumers than their current ones. I know people who switch services every two years, to always get the "switch and get _____ for half price!" Deals.

This isn't WiFi related, but my aunt has DirecTv. She calls and tells them she is changing service providers every few months, her monthly bill is like 15 dollars.

Check it! Speed when connecting to Comcast's Boston server.
