Super Smash Bros. Melee

Hello,

I was going to post in a different thread but seeing as the ones I was interested in have closed, I'm making a new one.

I have been playing competitively for a little over two years now and this game has become half my life. I've met literally all my friends from it, and it's helped me through a lot of ****.

I main Falco, and have recently picked up Marth because I can not for the life of me deal with spacies anymore.
I've been to many tournaments and went to my first major, Shine 2016, in Boston, MA in August. I've just recently set up Netplay and was wondering if there was any people who still played or would be interested. Hit me up :)

How'd you do in the Boston tournament?
And as someone who has never played competitive Smash, what is Netplay?

Lost to a good Puff, then a pretty average Samus in pools which I should have beat, but matchup knowledge got me, otherwise I woulda made it out :/
Netplay is online melee, you get Dolphin emulator and a Melee ISO and you can play online with people
I was super intimidated at first by Melee cuz of all the things you had to learn, but it is so much fun learning everything

I used to play Melee back in the day. Usually went with Link or Fox.

I'm more on the Competitive smash 4 side but melee is still a good time too. Once I get back home I'll see if I can play with you. I'm a falco and a shiek.

Nice, I used to play Link religiously but since he's not that good, I had to pick more viable characters. I still love playing him though.

I tried to get into Sm4sh, but just couldn't. It's still fun to play with friends though, since we all suck at it. But yeah, I'm down to Netplay anytime!

Don't blame you, a lot of people are turned off by the game because wavedashing (and L-canceling) is so emphasized and it is hard to learn and then even harder to implement into your gameplay. But if you like the grind, like I did, that's basically the whole game, which I love to death. After you learn it, it becomes muscle memory, like all the tech, you don't even have to think about it after you learn it.

I don't have tons of time to play in local tournaments but I've been to a few when I can. I main Fox and Marth. Never been to a major but if there's one really close or when I have more ability to travel I plan on it.

Yes definitely do, its so sick seeing your fave players. I got a picture and my badge signed by M2K, he's just what you'd expect, it's ****ing hilarious.
My friend got his shirt signed by him, but he wanted it bigger so he went back to him and asked to sign his name bigger. He signed his name EVEN SMALLER and when asked again to make it bigger, he just added all his sponsors xd

I've been to APEX 2015 and other popular tournaments. I've been following competitive SSBM since late 2013. My favorite players by far are Mew2King and PPMD. I've met like every god and had them all sign a notebook the first time I met them (and m2k sign my controller haha, also got to play him irl in friendlies).

I go to locals on a pretty regular basis, and Swedish Delight used to attended the same one that I do which is pretty awesome. I get good practice here in NJ living close to the NY guys.

Unfortunately I don't netplay anymore. Can't adjust to the input lag, and when I first net played back in the day I had the old adapter that has an automatic 4 frames lag and it is too painful to use haha. I would though. I always main Falco, funny enough.

Good to see more people on here interested in SSBM! The most AMAZING spectator esport of all time, with the most amazing game with an infinite skill ceiling. Melee forever.

:)
