Wolfenstein 2: A New Colossus

Has anyone bought it? I got it for Xbone and PC today, I think Wolfenstein may actually be my favorite series that Bethesda produces. If you haven't played before I'd totally recommend it. Besides shooting Nazis in the face, it has a great storyline.

Linked a trailer.

This game looks amazing.

I'll wait. I still haven't beat the prequel to wolfenstein yet and I've got a lot of games I've bought but haven't played yet so I'll probably play it in a year and pay $20 for it :D

nah gonna pass on this game, my biggest problem with the New Order and what i saw from trailers is bad character designs, and lack of bad guy development and the typical nazi cop out instead of well written and ironed out factions.
Bad character designs, something Bethesda exceeds at, literally all the characters are sterotypical, and it shows in the new trailers as well. There was just a checkbox of traits a character needed to have. Strong america **** ya guy? check. Sassy black chick with an afro? check. Crazy German scientists? check. it goes on and on.

Then theres lack of bad guy development. Since this is nazis we're talking about and since the nazis did a ton of experiments and pushed technological boundaries at the time often (most of the time failed), it bugs me how Bethesda doesn't bother to add in stuff like digging through files of officers to figure out about top secret projects or weapons development programs and all that good nazi experimental stuff.

Then theres the second part that annoys the hell outta me, and thats reinforcing the idea on why they are the bad guys every 2 seconds. In new order it was always either what you expect to hear like muh inhumane treatment of prisoners, muh genocide in africa, muh atomic bombs, muh targeting civilians, muh racism, and my favorite one MUH NAZIS, etc every goddamn time. We get it, they're the bad guys, stop bugging me on why i should not like them.

>but ghetto wolfenstien is a shooter at heart
Its a story driven shooter, a bad story makes a story driven shooter a lot different from player to player. While combat is good. I can't get into the setting the game has created so why bother when theres DOOM that does combat better and just tosses you into a guy whooping demons who are trying to kill you.

Eh gotta disagree with you, probably more on a personal basis than anything. Just finished the game and think that the story was pretty well done for the most part. I don't have a whole lot to say on the bad guy front, however I think some of the stereotypes aren't as out of hand as the trailer makes them out to be (besides sassy black woman, I hated just about every cutscene with Grace.)

For the other characters though...
Spoiler
Blazkowicz is a lot more than macho american man, between the three games you can see very clear character development. With the monologues you can totally see him as a dying and broken man, to the point where he completely accepts his death. Throughout the game all the little glimpes into his mind really shed a lot more light onto his character.

I'll also say that atleast General Engel was a pretty well done villain, by the end of the game its basically impossible to not absolutely ****ing despise her. And killing her makes a really great ending to the game.

Wyatt/Fergus are also both really well done characters imo, getting to the point where Wyatt opens up about his drug use and suicidal thoughts is absolutely crushing, and Fergus just has an amusing character in general.

Sigrun was a pretty cool introduction as well, her character development throughout the game is remarkable, and seeing her finally crack at the end is shocking.

I think overall the story gets a lot better the second time you play it through as you are able to admire a lot more of the little intricacies.

That's a pretty sick trailer

5hift 10-30-2017 04:26 PM

I thought they developed Blazko's character much better in this game.

Spoiler
We actually got to see his childhood which was really ****ed up all thanks to his asshole dad.

In the first game he was just this big meaty hunk that just went around ****in people up with bits and pieces of character development sprinkled in.

But in this game, we go in deep with his childhood and see him confront his childhood fear of his father in the most badass way.

Hell, there are times when I feel genuinely bad for him especially when he was about to be executed. He starts seeing his dead mom and just breaks down. I mean ****, after all the crap he's been through it's no surprise when he starts to lose it.

I wasn't really sure how to feel about Engle being the main villain in this game. This annoying bitch just couldn't die in the last game so she kinda seems like she was forced in as the main villain.

But the introduction of Sigrun makes up for a lot Engle's problems as the main villain. Its always nice to see the main villain from another perspective.

Can't play it since I'm going on a trip for a month and will have a pretty crappy laptop during the time but it's the first thing I'm going to grab when I get back. I personally loved The New Order. Enjoyed every second of it that I 100% the game and got all achievements, something I rarely do since I'm not a completionist. Old Blood was alright but didn't have as much fun as New Order. I expected that though since it really wasn't a fully fledged game, just more like a stand alone prequel. Really can't wait to get ANC. BJ is just a badass character.
