Crab Spawn Rates

I want to know what the crab spawn rates are when digging, because every 5 digs i did a crab spawned. 0.0 it got me really annoyed and im not kidding, i was counting how many digs until a crab spawned. Are they at a special pattern or just random? Cuz they were spawning alot this morning... more than average.

One crab shell got the same price as a normal shell. And the normal shells are way faster to get.
