Lets host a player hosted gs league

Holy **** this game has been boring lol. I was watching some replays of the NBA allstar game this season and i thought it would be cool if we did some sort of a player ran league. There could be maybe like 10 teams, 2 conferences and 7 per team. Teams would be composed of both idevs and pcs and we could do like a live draft or something on a saturday to determine teams. Maybe every saturday or sunday we do like a first to 3 game series to determine games and every team does 2 of them. We could record matches and maybe set up a wordpress site to post winners/losers/standings. At the end of season maybe we can have the standings determine brackets? top6 teams face off.

I'm down for this. Please only comment constructive or legitimate opinions on this because I don't want to have to read ****posts by dark talking about his 20 mvps in gst and how good he is. We all know how boring and dead its been lately so why not do this for fun.

How about seven teams that represent the seven cities/towns? York, Belle, Destiny, Snow, Swamp, Graal City, MoD...

If we do live drafts or something, then there will be top 3-5 teams that have all the good players and that's GST all over again. And all you're doing really is extending GST into separate dates while trying to randomize players(Won't work too well because there's always going to be 3+ teams with ALL ACE players).
Don't call Dark out lol. If you give him more attention, he'll give you some more attention.

well, A draft would work like this...

Team captain names are entered into a randomizer, the randomizer picks out a random name for first selection. That name is removed and its spun again for the next name. This creates the draft order, and the first round happens. Then it reverses (so the last pick of the first round has the first pick of the second round, but the first pick of first round has last pick of second round.) Then it reverses again, so on so forth.

Provided a decent amount of people were to come online and enter a place for the draft, there would be very balanced teams. It'd be entirely up to the team captain to decide how he builds this team. Any team becoming too "overpowered" would be the result of good gsing and teamwork, rather then a team having "all ace players."

Continuing from that, teams could probably just swap players down the road if they thought a move would benefit them in a sort of "trade." Cause leaving it entirely up to the draft is boring. No team would still get all the 'Ace' players still, unless there were some lopsided trades, still making it very unlikely to have an "all alumni" or "all VIS" or "all Azteca" team. (No smart team captain will trade Fulgore to a team for Carnage in example.)

I think that's possible, but 7 times is an odd number so it'd work out kinda weird. 7x7 is 49 which is a reasonable amount of people for the entire league probably, but maybe 8 or 10 teams (even number) would work.

I'm not sure if people would really want to represent certain cities, but I think that'd be really dope. I think stuff like uniforms have to be ruled out to stay true to graals gsing, but cities is a cool thought.

Again though, the chances of this happening is highly unlikely. 7x8 is 56, so to have 8 full teams, we'd need 56 participants. The chances of that happening in full cooperation is kind of a long shot as well, cause I can imagine (certain) individuals throwing fits about what team picked them or whatever.

I'd represent Snow Town because I live in upper Michigan :p

To avoid team stacking there could be a random assignment of players to teams. If there are eight teams you could roll an 8-sided dice for each participant to determine what team they will be in. This would mean there will be a signup, and anyone signing up after 56 players would be on the "[Player] didn't show, so you'll take their place" list.

Forgot Onnet Town you noobs... Also Balamb and Big City are options if you wanted 10. City-based theme sounds cool though

Saeed 04-03-2018 12:07 AM

Guys... how can you forget Northern wilderness!!
In addition, make sure the teams are chosen selectively just like the guild points in GST otherwise we will have noobs like Dark (free boosted win) in the tournament.
If Dark attempts to join the tournament make his team represent destiny stable lolol

Wluld be really cool if this became a thing, but we all know it won’t happen.

Saeed 04-03-2018 09:01 PM

It’s possible but we have to do it 2 weeks b4 gst bc thats when comes back to graal to gs

U do realize that westbrook is banned from forums...

And then who would be the host of this tourney?

Someone other than him. This idea is too good to pass up.

Fulgore 04-03-2018 11:10 PM

don't act like this is some revolutionary idea, it's been proposed before and nobody is going to run it well enough for it to work. Setting yourselves up for disappointment believing in this kind of stuff.
