Every Rule On Graal Needs to Be Published. Here's Why.
It seems as if every day, there is a new rule, the violations of which players are banned for.
Are these rules posted publicly? Do new players have notice of these rules before playing? When you change the rules, is everyone notified (like any software program with new terms does before you can continue to use the software)??? The answer is no. And that is upsetting. There is SO MUCH ambiguity regarding Graal rules. For example, here is the unwritten rules on blocking that no new player would know about: Blocking is not allowed. Except when you're in a tower defending. But you can't use burgers to help block even when defending. And if defending, you can't block the door inside of snow. And when attacking, blocking is ok as long as other people can hit you (no lag blocking). But even if they can hit you, you can't use burgers to stay alive to continue to block. Does anyone else see the absurdity behind Graal rules? Like any set of laws in any society, if the laws are not written and published and if the public does not have notice of any changes, then you essentially open the door for corruption. Those in power (admins) can create whatever rules they want and enforce whatever rules they want. To summarize: publish rules. Make players agree to any change the rules. This will prevent corruption and will ensure players are treated fairly. |
I have been suggesting for the longest time that they add rule signs at Kiosk. They are constantly announcing rules and notes in broadcast messages which aren't seen by offline people and can be forgotten by the people who have seen it. Furthermore, I don't even know if some of the rules they announced were enforced. Julius announced the RP rule, but Rufus said it wasn't going to be implemented. Which is it? Rules signs. Make them.

Agreed, I see lots of players getting banned for implicit rules that aren't formally posted.
|
I agree with this. If I came on tommorow I would have never known about the rping rules or the gp ones
|
I agree. At least put a link to the TOS or something.

Some rules are subjective though and come down to the GP's judgement on what to do, like the blocking thing for example. You can't make a rule for every little situation like that.
I do agree there should be rules formally posted for iPhone Classic... |

We really should publish rules. Normally every game or programm has rules you have to agree wit, I dont think Graal has something like that.
Also like the others said alot of new people dont know whats allowed and whats forbidden. If you see some people glitching over a wall and you think its funny, how should you no its forbidden. On Graal PC some servers have boxes with the rules and you have to agree to them to play, or they have signs with the rules in a house (often the one you start in). |
Put a button on the menu, or have the news/rules pop up in your face everytime you get on.

I came up with this idea a long time ago. Sign at kiosk and at the starting tutorial with all the rules and the average punishment for each on first offense, second offense, and third/multiple offenses.
I sent it to Matt, who is in charge of all gp. He denied it because it couldn't have all the possibilities and such. I explained that you put as much as you can, if you can't manage to put it there you shouldn't be banning for it anyway. Similarly to when news is updated while your offline a "rules updated" message could appear. I've been arguing and mentioning this for a long long time, yet it's still not being listened to. As far as the "it's common sense" excuse, that would only apply to something like hacking or major vulgarity. |

It is posted on the game's official site, and it stands for any platform/server. I think the only thing that needs to be stated specifically on the iPhone server is that the rules are strongly encouraged to be read prior to playing the game. Rewriting this entire document in-game would be a huge waste of time. Then again, I'm not sure how effective it might be, knowing the general behavior of people when it comes to these kinds of things.. Spoiler
