Meditate is unfair

I recently found out that the meditate item given away at a gst a while back has practical uses. It slowly regens your health, acting as a good alternative to burgers allowing you to heal at forts while out of combat. It's ok to make interesting cosmetic items exclusive, but items that are helpful should not be unavailable to the whole community. Items like the coin flip and dice roll that are unique items that differentiate from standard gani items are ok as they are not benificial to forts or other competitive play.

Solution:
Give meditate away through a quest of some sort, and give people who already owned the item a new unobtainable item that isn't an unfair advantage, as well as 2500 gralats as a refund. There will probably be a little complaining, but it will go away quickly.

I don't think that would be fair to give it away. It takes 12.5 seconds to refill .5 of your health. Plenty of time to get attacked while using it.

With 12.5 seconds to refill .5 of your health, it sounds like it would be far more practical to just heal yourself with burgers or just die.

It is. It's pretty useless at forts. You're better off killing yourself or having someone kill you.

Now that this is established, I think that we can safely assume that the meditate rug, as most things on Graal, is for cosmetic purposes. Thus, this thread is pretty much pointless.

doesnt matter how ineffective it is, it still does something, the gst items and all the paid for items are supposed to be vanity items and cosmetic, if you add anything gameplay wise it needs to have a quest for it, alternativly they could make a new item and boost it and the meditate so they are more useful and anyone can get it doing a quest.

*cough* Double person mounts *cough* Holds five bombs.

that was something that should never had happened, as well as the default horse being available for free in balamb for new players.

incidentally those unfair silly two person mounts also cost a lot of money, and ignore the fact that all mounts are supposed to be the same gameplay wise and only for vanity, basically they could have made it so all mounts could hold two people, although on some shorter mounts it would look a bit weird with one player on the very end. horse breaths fire rate is OP anyway.

Is this thread serious? :P

I know it doesn't seem like much, but it is useful being able to heal a bit without needing burgers (what is this? Era now? Food items for health?)

It's more of a matter of principal. All gameplay effecting perma items are supposed to be obtainable for free/ from a quest.

Maybe a sleep gani? Or some sort of particle effect like the snowstorm but healing like a healing spell?

Where does it say this anywhere?

Besides, meditate literally doesn't change the gameplay for anyone. This thread is just complaining for the sake of complaining.

It does something. It heals. Therefore, it effects gameplay, if it's not effective enough then boost it and the item obtainable from the quest.

If it does something that isn't cosmetic, then it's supposed to be obtainable for free or by quest by everyone.

Now if you'd like to stop trying to argue for the sake of not doing something and stopping progress and would instead like to help with ideas and set ups for a quest for a new healing item that would be great.

But no one conveniently uses meditate to heal. Therefore, it doesn't affect the gameplay. They also aren't going to boost it because they sell healing items for a reason.

Higbey 07-13-2012 06:43 AM

as for a default horse on balamb for free, now this would be easy, I could do the default horse tied to a stake graphic, there could be a old man that says he is too old to keep riding his horse, and that it deserves a young rider who will use it more than he could.

Now for the healing, as that has to so with life and healing it should be something connected to the legendary heroine "Hera". (read books in the office in the bank)

I like the idea of the particle effect thing like the snow storm item, but with no snow flakes and green, healing magic. Maybe a healing spell taught by Hera?

As for the quest it would depend on what could be scripted, that would be sorted our later,

Would you quit trying to fight it? It does something that effects the game other than cosmetic purposes, it should be available to everyone for free or via quest, it could be used for a mini "quest", which could tide some players over during periods when nothing is really being released, such as when areas are being worked on and not near to release.

It was a GST item, the people who made it to the second round had a chance to win this gani. Does it serve any useful purposes? No.

You can have your own opinion, I just think it's very trivial to be worried about this.
