Also basing would be more interesting if you could craft gun attachments like a longer barrel that does more damage but reduces accuracy. Or some thing that increases fire rate but reduces damage.

it would be cool if...
It would be cool if you could craft tools for jobs that last longer. For example, if you could craft a gold pick axe that lasts longer than the normal one. Or craft a big jar that holds two bugs...
