Maybe it could just list if it is currently sold or not. That would alleviate the players having to pm trying to find out about hats that aren't currently sold. Ex. GST, Guild, event hats. Not necessarily the location. The shield and sword thing is a nice idea, though I don't know how easy it would be implemented.
