Torrenting bottlenecks the **** out of your connection, especially if you're doing a lot of seeding since bottlenecking your upload will pretty much bring your download speed to a crawl. But ping still suggests you have a damaged line somewhere. You can tracert google or something to see where the high ping occurs, which will show if it's on your end or somewhere along the lines.

If it's actively seeding/uploading (Tip: reduce the amount of connections allowed, and upload rate) then it's probably maxing out their upstream bandwidth, which can really mess up pings. People who torrent should really use a
seedbox, works way better for contributing to ratios on certain torrenting websites, and you can download things much more securely.
