Why does everyone care so much what the reason was? Do you think your gonna make the same mistake or something? Do you actually care for him, or just want to laugh at his mistakes?
If he does not want to tell you then let him be.
Although i agree that if he doesn't want to talk about he should not have announced it.

Just let the GP's be and deal with your own drama please.
