Here's a nice example just today.
I hate physics, at least what we are taught. Physics is math. More math than it is science. At least what we are taught, we have to solve equations and formulas and show this value and that value and graph this and that and this, we need to learn how this term applies to that thing..
It's not about anything exciting or experiments or anything like that.
It has "theoretical" problems that are useless for accurate data because we ignore gravity, air resistance, mass, friction, and other things we will always have fore the rest of our lives. Air resistance doesn't apply in space, but then you get into astronomical physics.
Basically, my teacher teaches in a way that I cannot succeed at, on a subject that I despise, in a classroom that is filled with people that do not contribute positively to my learning in any way.
We had a partner activity today. She assigned me to this kid she also sat next to me..
He snickers at me in English when I "act like a nerd" and I feel and hear him going on and making silent jokes about me and basically is a ass to me.
So I'm doing the lab.. And he asks me for the answer.. I tell him.. Couple of problems later im tired of him leeching off me and when he asks me for the answer for the next problem, I show him the activity demo, and he says "I know I know im just asking" and stuff like "I know I'm just uh asking to check my answer", to which I ask him what he chose as his answer then.. He struggles then obviously guesses the answer is no. It was a 50:50 shot and he guessed right, so I tried to explain to him why it's right, then he says "I know that's why, that's why I answered it that."
Next question... Explain why you chose yes or no..
He asks me what the answer is. Trying not to go ape and punch his face in, I irately remind him that I was just trying to explain it and he said he knew.
He then says "we are in a group, we are supposed to work together and check eachothers work"
Finally I try to explain how that no matter how fast he throws a ball horizontally off a cliff, it will still fall the same amount each time.
He keeps saying he knows and that he has got it. He then asks me what I'm writing as the answer.
After class, I tell the teacher and she says she knew, and that he just doesn't seem to want to even try, and that she tried to pair him with people like me that know physics extremely well and understand it..
Im getting Fs on stuff in her class, I'm a low C or below..
And she says this.
The kid I'm talking about? He has a above a B.
How is this fair? The education system is broken, thus all your grades and classes mean NOTHING.
