I've got a pretty well understanding of distortion effects such as reverb and delay, coming off as a pianist and guitarist. Are there any things I should know about FL Studio that isn't commonly taught, or would I be better off with tutorials?

I think you'd be better off with tutorials, since I'm still learning and I still don't know what a few of the effects do. Something else that's extremely important as a musician: music isn't simply a bunch of noises arranged to sound nice. No, it tells a story. Every song has its own unique story behind it, and they tell that story through melodies and harmonies and such. Just telling you that.
