You will get more entertainment for your money with a Nexus then. The Android platform has so many options for customizing, they tied the number of apps with Apple during late October, and it's overall just an entirely new and refreshing experience coming off of iOS.
Everything looks the same on iOS whether you're on an iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone (I own or have owned all of these).
The static grid of icons on the homescreen and the usual grey menus gets old fast. If you ever get bored of your Nexus you have thousands of options to completely change your device's appearance and how it functions.
Also people who are wary of Android's "lag" just take a look at the specs on the device and compare them to the iPad mini, plus this is Google's Android...not Samsung or HTC that add their crap to slow down the OS.
