You're thinkin of Avalon, and it never became a player world. Classes were never added to classic/graal the adventure, but nations were for a brief period. And even when the nations were released, I don't think they lasted long because that was when classic was force to get an npc server.
I think you might have classic confused with some player world.

Graal the Adventure(again, Tyhm's version)
definitely had classes. They just didn't last very long. Err... well they were races, not classes. Same difference though. I very clearly remember races like Gnome, Vampire and such. You can read about a few of them here:
http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...t=races&page=4
"Ah, vampires are out. Excellent."
Sadly this stuff isn't very well documented.
edit: Rufus informs me this was all part of nations. Like I said I didn't play around this time. I logged in, it let me chose what type of character I could be(Vampire, Gnome, Zorbi and a few others I can't remember) and I got to do special abilities and crap. Sounds like choosing a race to me, but if it was part of nations that's fine. But I still just consider it race picking since I didn't stick around and do the nation stuff. If it was part of some large nation gameplay stuff that's cool, but understand my confusion when I log on and get to change my character to various races, that I assume it's the ability to change my race.
