The Sennheiser HD280 I've tried at Best Buy before, and I can't say it was suited for EDM or harder genres. It's really basslight with a treble-centric sound signature. I think the AKG K240 might fare better, though. FWIR on Head-Fi, it has a smoothed out signature like the more expensive ATH-M50 with good bass impact but slightly lacking in the midrange. You could go for those if you'd like. Read up on some reviews about it, since I unfortunately don't know too much about them. Grado headphones are also legendary for all sorts of metal/rock/EDM but they're pretty retro looking and open-backed and on-ear.
