That's correct, and it is being worked on. Stefan stated recently that he's working on optimization. Currently an Android server can hold a max of 2031 players.

I think you misread what he wrote. He stated that maximum users on the iPhone server has been over 2000 and that he didn't think it would last another 2000 (as is) if Android players was on the same server. But he said he was going to optimize the server to be able to handle more
