Personally, I don't think anything is going to happen. This is just the rhetoric that North Korea has been saying since the Korean War. It is, probably, the worst threat that they have said, but I still don't think that they are going to attack. I'm sure that they know that they don't stand a chance against the U.S.

They probably know they are destined to fail but at the same time they want to leave a devastating mark as a final act of revenge. Or to prove that they are capable of nuculear technology to use as a scare tactic to
prevent war. Who knows? In time the Western Powers and the UN probably would've taken North Korea out anyway. So by having a nuke at their side they can use it as a way to avoid conflict by simply pointing it at their enemies. Which in this case is the U.S.
