People will continue to complain about all the stuff EA/Microsoft is doing, but the truth is the vast majority of people will still buy their products.
I'm pretty sure they're doing this as an anti-piracy measure, but I can already see people creating a hack to bypass this internet restriction, along with pirating the games themselves.

It's also suppose to have mandatory game install for every game on a disc, which PS4 is doing as well. The always online thing seems overkill.
Sure you can hack and all that but why not just buy something that works out of the box?
