No, there isn't a rule. But I'm saying that there's no point in buying the xbox from my perspective because I can get the same services for free elsewhere and with the same level of quality content. That's the entire point of this discussion remember?
I love how you just said "Wrong." In that first sentence, this is supposed to be a discussion about differing opinions. Not a back and fourth about who is "Right" on the issue. To me, Xbox Live party chat is not an advantage at all in any sense because I can use skype for... (free)... and chat with my friends. Signing in on multiple accounts is a small advantage if you're planning on playing splitscreen with someone. But that's it really. There, you named one. Thankyou. But at least to me, but its not worth $60.00 per year from my standing so it doesn't really detract from the point I was trying to make. I've seen the free rewards program on the Xbox. It has barley any content. The "certain game exclusives" you are talking about is actually a disadvantage considering that every single other console in the competition has more exclusives than the Xbox.

I said wrong to this,
"Nothing here is a major advantage over the PS3." You just said an advantage so I gave one whether it's seen as big or not. I don't care if Xbox lacks as many exclusives as other consoles because they have a long lasting appeal in my opinion. Why would I need more exclusives when I'm still playing the one I have?

From what I have seen with Little Big Planet 2 the DLC is entirely cosmetic so I don't see your point at all as to why not getting some trophies from custom maps is a bad thing. The same thing seems to be true with your uncharted example, as losing the ability to "taunt" isn't really going to detract anything from your experience unless you're really jealous of those people that have it.
|
There are packs with objects in which players create their custom content with and if someone who wins the award does not have it, they can't use the object. I mean you don't need community objects to play the game, but it defeats the purpose of custom prizes if no one can use them. True, taunts aren't going to ruin your gameplay, but I feel they should be already included with the game. The part about Uncharted I don't like are buying shortcuts. I know other games do that like Battlefield 3 so Uncharted isn't alone. I guess my first statement about them making a load of their money on DLC can't be proven without actual statistics about how much they make from them.

You're missing my entire point though. I'm not trying to directly compare PS3 exclusives to Xbox exclusives in terms of DLC. I'm comparing the Xbox's library in respect to the rest of the gaming market in general. And, when you look at it that way, the xbox's library is almost entirely multiplatform compare to what other gaming machines have to offer. So games like Left 4 Dead (that is available elsewhere on PC and doesn't require high end specs) are irrelevant, considering we are talking about reasons why anyone should actually buy the xbox console.
|
If my PC is unable to handle Left 4 Dead and I have an Xbox 360 in which I can buy it wouldn't it make sense to buy it on the 360 instead of getting a new computer? If I had a PS3 if I really wanted to play Left 4 Dead I would need a new computer just to play it. Or maybe just in general I don't like PC gaming and I want it on my Xbox.

Here's a quick summary of my points so that I can tie them all together. There are very few advantages regarding Xbox Live and not enough quality exclusives to justify the purchase of an Xbox. Sure, Playstaion may have minor problems with a few of their exclusives regarding DLC but this does not retract from the massive and diverse library it offers compared to the Xbox. In the end, there isn't really any significant reason to buy an Xbox unless you really enjoy playing games on splitscreen.

I didn't like that sentence. Now you're directly talking about the Xbox rather than Xbox Live. What if a person didn't use Live and just played offline. Maybe they like the controller better, the exclusive games, or whatever the case. I do not enjoy paying $60.00 a year just so I can play a few exclusive games that I have to pay another $60.00 for, use a controller I feel more comfortable with, splitscreen, and talking to friends in a party. If the price increases any further like it did before I will have no choice but to stop paying for Xbox Live and switch to the PS3 for all my games. As of now though Xbox Live is just another fee I have to deal with to use those small advantages. Both systems are good, but I guess I've grown too accustomed to the Xbox and didn't really mind paying $60.00 since I enjoy it so much. Maybe $60.00 isn't a lot to me because I get spoiled with money around the holidays from relatives and my parents. We all have our opinions and it should make people more thrilled than anything to see Xbox Live users throw $60.00 down the drain while they play for free if they feel that way. Maybe some day I'll see the light and realize I have been paying too much, but right now I'm going to stick with Xbox for my own reasons.
I don't blame you if you didn't read my entire post. I got a headache just typing it. I respect your opinion and I probably am paying too much and don't realize it yet. Perhaps I'll see the light some day.
