It's one thing to have them designed after things you find in the natural world(eggs, spheres, rocks...) and then things designed after human creations(Magnemite would pretty much be in the same boat, but could also say he was physically created by a human, as a robot/machine). I'm not saying Pokemon weren't stupid in past generations either. Mr. Mime and Jynx were really stupid too. I'm also not saying Pokemon in newer generations aren't cool... there's lots of cool new designs in each generation. I just feel they're pushing it, just for the sake of making the number even larger.
It's funny, back when Pokemon was new I remember seeing Gold/Silver speculations in magazines and remembering how exciting it was to hear news of possible new Pokemon... but after Gold/Silver I was sick of it. Especially because of how many are just carbon copies of the crappy common Pokemon, since they never want to use older Pokemon. Just seems like a waste of time now.
At this point I would really like to see an "all-star" in the next Pokemon, where they pick and choose the best/coolest Pokemon to star in the world, pre-Elite 4, rather than creating another new 150+.
