I... I... I have no idea how it deduced it that quickly. I thought of the Spy from Team Fortress 2. It asked 8 very vague questions and got it.

There's usually one identifying specific question that, while seeming really vague, narrows the selection down greatly. It's all one huge branching tree with order of elimination. For example, I just played Euphemia li Britannia from Code Geass, and every single question was rather vague and unspecific up until these three:
Did your character die young?
Is your character silver-haired?
Is your character a princess?
Akinator probably could have guessed Euphemia just from those three alone.
Took him 34 questions and two wrong guesses to get Flygon though.
62 questions and three wrong guesses to get Milly from Code Geass, with 100% expected answers too.
