Eradicating the dropping of items has one downfall: you can't lend/donate items to people without the $100 table fee.

There'll always be a downfall to a chosen implementation of an idea. My bet is... If tables had no trade fee, you'd always have noobs occupying these tables and then you'd be asking for a queue system to eradicate that problem, then you'd be mad at that since you'd STILL be waiting too long so you'd demand a priority queue, where priority is based off number of trades successfully completed or some jazz like that. This will bring up another load of issues, and so on...
SNK hasn't been living under a rock, and I think his decisions are justified, it all just depends on what perspective you look at the problem. So.... There's always an implementation you'll oppose, best thing to do is just suck it up and not get so worked up about it.
