Candy will not expire until 30 days later. I just double, triple check the code. Also I ran a script to tell me when the few candies I had would expire:

Current time: Mon Oct 28 23:25:58 2013
Candy will expire on: Wed Nov 27 21:45:09 2013
Candy will expire on: Wed Nov 27 21:45:20 2013
Candy will expire on: Wed Nov 27 21:45:32 2013
Candy will expire on: Wed Nov 27 21:45:42 2013

Also, candy does not expire while playing, only on login. So there's no way for candy to "be gone before they are dropped."
