Well I dunno why I have to keep reiterating this, as it's going to eventually lead me to just locking this thread.

Anyways, the furniture copying while being moved should be fixed.
The only thing locking furniture does is stop you from being able to click on furniture. Furniture "messing" up may be from logging off too quickly(or leaving the level) after moving/copying furniture. I'm trying to pinpoint/replicate it more reliably, but I'm not having much luck. Copying furniture doesn't really do anything new, system-wise as it rides off the coattails of what was already in place for placing/moving furniture, so the fact copied furniture is acting up is a bit confusing.

Ok so he DOES have a point... there are some issues with the furniture duplication... what I have found to be problematic is as follows:
1.) Dragging furniture (without wishing to duplicate) - this becomes difficult! If you have multiple versions of the same item and want to place one in a specific spot, you sort of have to do it SUPER quickly or the system thinks you're trying to duplicate... and it results in wasting time with removing/replacing the duplicated object (OR possibly making you see the 'YOU DON'T HAVE ANY MORE OF THIS' warning).
2.) Running Out - Not having to count the individual items in stock can be annoying, if you are 3-4 pieces away from finishing your epic railroad (or whatever) and have not been counting pieces along the way. Exponentially so if you have carefully laid down two or three hundred other pieces of furniture meticulously, have two or three hundred more in your inventory, and have to go drop ALL of it in some abandoned corner of your guild house before you can go buy the extra other pieces you need. This is annoying, but inherent in the system, so far as I understand...
3.) Intentionally Duplicating - As with all new features, it can be tricky to get the hang of this. I have played with it and realize, at this point, that it will take some time to remember and use this function inherently. I still have the habit of dropping 10 of an item, then trying to position them just so... and then (see #1)... yeah... The main trouble here (as I see it) is adjusting to the new system in place in such a way that its intuitive nature can be realized and benefited from.
4.) Actual Bugginess - Two main things stand out in this area; the graphic representation of the doubling (maybe the 'timing' of actual duplication?) and the strange furniture movements that UFOBuran had mentioned.
Graphics - There is an issue with the placement of furniture at the time of placement that can be reproduced when you try to place an item that you do not have any more of (happens almost every time). The furniture will have a partial image displayed in the level while you are reading the message that says 'you don't have more of this' and the partial furniture image will remain AFTER the message is gone. Granted a little more manipulation of furniture and it disappears, but, it is certainly there and could cause issue for less experienced players. Large Bench makes a good example piece to reproduce this effect, as it happens most frequently with this item.
(Possibly this is tied to the order of the duplication coding - as in "duplicate item if held for
n seconds, if no stock in inventory delete duplicate and show message 'you need to buy more, sucka!' But I haven't seen the actual work done on this, so it's just a guess from the effect in game.)
Strange Movements - Maybe I'm seeing things, but I have had this happen several times recently (And, being fairly precise with my layouts, I would notice); I have just finished everything, placed it all nicely, and gone off into the world to show people my creation... and then when I come back one or two pieces are moved in a strange way. Not the previous location that they were placed in... not 'vacant' or in my furniture inventory... just two or three tiles out of alignment with where they are supposed to be.
This had not occurred previous to the updated furniture 'duplication' function, and has happened both with items that have multiple positions (red couch, large bench in particular) and those without (vertical wall, box).
If you would like I can put up pics showing what I mean, if this is not clear enough.
