Well it's not BS, despite whatever experiences you have had in the past. When there are a lot of players on, and a huge chunk of those players(1000 or so that respond to events) have an incentive to go to the same level... the server doesn't like it. It can't manage to communicate all the data of all the players in the same level to each other. Any player who has been on recently while an event warper was placed with that many players on will tell you exactly what happens to the server.
The warpers themselves do not cause lag, it's the players crowding to a single spot that does.

Then why not make several other warpers around the map in certain places like rufus did? He would say 1 warper lead to chance another to bush race etc.
