I would rather them put that work towards things on the server that actually affect gameplay than furniture that only a subsection of the community actually wastes money on.

Subsection = not you. Just because you don't like furniture doesn't mean the majority of players don't enjoy it.
Also implying that a person can only work specifically on one thing the entire time of production!
