Ok... So I have never rooted a phone but have heard about doing this to FREE up ur phone etc.

Can someone explain to me what exactly rooting a phone is an if I should do it and if it will hurt my phone.

Also any recommended sites to explain how.

I have a HTC INSPIRE , its an android phone that I only use for WiFi connection.
