4. closer to 'center' of graal. castle/onnet/dw/path to snow are all relatively nearby so if i decide to change a tower i can easily leave and get there without getting bored

Did you seriously just say deadwood and snowtown are closer to graal city than mod town?.... From where you hang, at Burger Refuge, castle and mod are the two closest forts.
besides the fact theres a reason forts are widespread across the map.
