Because his argument is value, where the value of what he received exceeds (by 2-4 times more than) what was paid, and this is the case for pretty much everyone. I don't know how ANYONE could possibly expect something perfect from them in a random gift box either. If you truly held that belief when you received a gift.. I don't even know what to say.

He hadn't paid though, someone else did unless he's lonely and gifted from a second account. I think what he was looking for in the gift was something of some sort of use, maybe not a magical perfect item but something with purpose.
