We're trying to find things to monetize to bring Val to Facebook but we're having difficulties. We've always let people upload whatever graphical assets they want, so we have to sell stuff like character slots or RP house deeds. It'd be interesting to see what you guys come up with, I think mounts would be neat for classic.

1.) Jack up VIP subscription to 10k, bringing back the vip-only store concept with a revamped oasis island.
2.) Put a cap on player horse, hat collections - say 10 horses, 5 hat pages, and make them pay for more 'slots'.
3.) Introduce a second currency (like other f2p games) that you get super-rarely in game, but can pay to acquire. This secondary currency should be incorporated in such a way that you can transfer it to gralat, but NOT transfer gralat into the currency.
4.) Provide the ability to upload furniture, mount, bomb skins to the game for a cost (make uploads in afore-mentioned secondary currency).
5.) Though I hate to say it - charge rent on server space for houses and/or guild houses. Could be a reasonable amount of gralats or secondary currency previously suggested.
6.) Pay 'volunteers' for their time - hear me out - so that the content in-game is completed, interesting, and not disappointing. That would allow for a bigger initial cost in idevice user downloads, which links into idea 7...
7.) Create paid-only areas in game, which require you to have put at least some money down... this could be a monthly thing like vip (oasis) or it could be a one-time benefit.
8.) Create more content that would be 'vip' only... this is double edged if you go down the route of 'imbalancing' characters who pay money, but a few sweet horses or hats or furniture items might be incentive enough to get people to pay some cash for gralats... (e.g. if you spend money this month on a gralat pack, your account gets credited with this amazing mount... or whatever... special content only for incentive purposes).
9.) Improve the hiring process. This would allow for enthusiastic players with applicable skills to be hired instead of administrators who abuse their powers and get fired within a couple months... not naming any names.
10.) Get some dedicated marketing plans. Word of mouth is great and all, but if you are REALLY looking to monetize, hike up the server space and get the word out.
I will leave this with what I feel to be a pertinent quote.
"Be able to stomach big slices of Luck."
In the body of wisdom not the least important organ is a big stomach, for great capacity implies great parts. Big bits of luck do not embarrass one who can digest still bigger ones. What is a surfeit for one may be hunger for another. Many are troubled as it were with weak digestion, owing to their small capacity being neither born nor trained for great employment. Their actions turn sour, and the humours that arise from their undeserved honours turn their head and they incur great risks in high place: they do not find their proper place, for luck finds no proper place in them. A man of talent therefore should show that he has more room for even greater enterprises, and above all avoid showing signs of a little heart.
