Rant about what happens to you IRL here. Don't post real names though.
So it's the 4th of July, and I went to hang out at a friends house with some other of his friends. Let's call my friend "Bob". We have a good time, talk, play Frisbee, etc.
We decide to go to a neighbors party that we go to every year. Some really cute girl my age comes(let's call her Kelly) and sits down next to me. She's a friend of Bob. I'm really, really shy, so I don't really bother to introduce myself or even say hi. I also struggled just to look at her out of shyness.
We talk as a group for a while about various things(Me, my friends, the girl.) I didn't notice this until later, but she was very clearly trying to sit next to me.
She would always sit next to me, even when being offered a chair elsewhere(she was sitting on the ground, as was I) She only accepted a chair when it was one next to me.
She was also quite abnormally nice to me, in a way I can't explain. The tone of her voice, how she talked to me as compared to everyone else, etc.
My friend's friend(let's call him Steve) is also single, and he is very clearly trying to get to know her. But he isn't shy like me. He's trying really hard. Talking to her a lot, all of that. And based on what others were saying when Steve/Kelly weren't with us, she didn't like him that much. But he isn't gonna give up. He's not shy at all.
So it's about time for the fireworks, and we go to this great spot we use every year. We have a blanket we brought(no one wants to sit on grass), and Kelly moves over and offers for me to sit next to her. So I do. Steve is sitting in front of me.
This is where I get REKT. Steve tells me "Oh, I'm a bit taller than you, you wanna switch spots? I might block the view of the fireworks". So I switch without thinking, not even realizing his ulterior motive or what I was even doing. Holy **** he's so smooth, switching to sit with her while making it look like a kind act instead of one out of desperation.
I didn't even realize it until I had already switched. And to make things worse I did it so abruptly and so carelessly that it made it seem like I don't even like her. The fact that I immediately had a conversation with someone else after made it seem like it had to happen.
I'm so ****ing smooth lol. Probably won't see her ever again, there's a decent chance she liked me too. I really liked her. Biggest failure I've had yet. I'm so shy and incapable of talking to girls, its sad. And I'm 18 years old...

DAMN MATEEEE DAMMN srs this story bothered me.
We have all been shy in situations like this, if it is something normal for you- it's something you learn to overcome with experience (I am somewhat that way).
Your friend sounds like an ass, sure smooth and stuff but really he jumped the gun a little bit but when it comes to cute girls I guess we all can do that.
You should try, not apologizing to her, but try to contact her without seeming creepy (as in, I wouldn't go and try to social network her because that comes off as hopeless, but maybe if she goes to your school or if you can figure out where she works- or try to hang out with bob next time he is going to hang out with her)
If you get that chance to see her again, you should try to have a passionate moment with her, where you tell her that last time you felt so bad you didn't talk to her but she was so gorgeous that you just didn't know what to say and you fumbled- and that you think she seems like a really comfortable person to be with (<- that is gold btw) and you would like a second chance.
If you manage to say something like that while keeping eye contact, possibly a LITTLE physical contact if appropriate (Hands around her arms or one hand on top of her hand- to show you have a confident side) then you should be able to get you **** sucked before the day is over.
Don't be shy, man, just go for it! If you knew she liked you back, you should've just told the guy, "Nah, I already have the best view in the house" and then look at the girl and BAM! Smooth as silk.
Here's my story. So, a group of friends and I went to the beach after I got out of work to hangout and watch the fireworks. We got there relatively early, so we got pretty good seats. Anyways, after an hour of messing around, chatting and other stuff this group of girls set up their stuff a few feet away from us. My friends, being the immature college students they are, start making that obnoxious whistle sound and checking them out, while I'm just awkwardly sitting there, pretending to look at my phone. Anyways, they just ignored my friends and just started chatting and whispering and stuff.
Anyways, an hour passed, and my friends started doing dumb things and tried getting the girls' attention by taking their shirts off and then attempting to get a tan. I was so embarrassed that I just wanted to leave, and the girls were just sitting there like "wtf?" After my friends realized they were just making a fool out of themselves, they stopped and we just started chatting. They went to go get some food from the pier and I decided to stay back. While they were gone, the group of girls left as well, except this one girl. I didn't really pay attention since I was just playing Candy Crush on my phone :p when she said "hi" to me. I replied hi back, and I wasn't really sure of what I should do, so I just asked for her name. Let's call her Lauren. Anyways, we started talking about stuff, and then we started getting into this deep conversation about family and stuff, and we just kept talking to each other until my friends came back. I started to freak out inside because I knew that they would do something to embarrass me, so right after she finished what she was talking about, I asked her if I could get her number. (and she said yes! ) After putting her number in my contacts, my friends came back and surprisingly didn't say anything about me getting Lauren's number. I told her I'd call her later, and then the night just went on with chatting with my friends, hanging out, and then watching the fireworks. Before we left, I gave Lauren a quick hug before leaving and then told her I'd call her later, which I will do tomorrow. ^_^
Overall, I had a pretty great day.

Nice story good job!!! Sounds like you pulled it off just right
My story involves the gym and justice, i'm just a bystander witnessing but damn this made my whole week. TLDR at the bottom of the spoiler.
Spoiler
The other week I encountered a hero, this guy was the **** I felt so great about humanity after witnessing this guy. I was at the gym headphones in working out yada yada, and during a break between sets I like to just look around see what everyone else is up to, not in a judgeful manner just to find things to look at besides a wall. Anyway, those of you who go to a gym are probably aware of the 'etiquette' and respect involved, you never make fun or put anyone down in the gym, because they are working hard to change themselves for the better. I'm looking around and notice these 3 guys, call em Group A, probably my age (17) looking at this older guy who must be new to the gym as he was struggling to finish his sets which some would say were low weight, but who cares, it's not what you're lifting, it's how you're lifting it that matters. Anyway, Group A were whispering and looking, I couldn't hear what they were saying but this older fella clearly could, and he was obviously distressed about it, I felt so angry and upset at the same time about it but I was just fixated on Group A for the nerve.
However, this part was crazy, someone else who was a lot bigger and clearly a vet in the gym obviously noticed this to, I see him walk straight over to the older fella, tell him he's doing great and needs to keep it up, then he goes straight to Group A, picks up the bar they were using, add on two plates each side and curl it right in front of them for 10. He then drops the bar in front of them, laughs and walks off to finish his workout. I was absolutely stunned, this man was a hero, everyone else was watching him in awe or looking at Group A like wow. This was the other week I said, and I haven't seen those guys since, but still see the older fella and hero, they say hello to eachother, not to me but i'm just a bystander in the situation, and the older fella is still working as hard as ever.
TLDR
- 3 guys laughing at older guy who's new and working his arse off to make change
- Massive bodybuilder walks over builds the older guy's confidence up
- Massive bodybuilder then grabs bar 3 guys were using and shows them up
- Everyone is staring in awe and chuckling at 3 guys, 3 guys go haven't seen them since.
- Older guy and bodybuilder seem to become friends, older guy still working as hard as ever.
