The Middle East is just going to cause problems constantly, it is far too volatile to be peaceful. Very much like Europe in feudal times in a lot of respects except they have more deadly weapons.

Malaysian Airlines are having a very bad year. Russia almost certainly supplied the rebels with the weaponry used to shoot down the plane and now they are trying to distance themselves.
