So this thread was bumped. Which is good, because there's a lot of things posted here that I would love to see, and given that it's been a couple months since this thread was last posted in, I would love to know if any of this is being worked on.
What I want most: Those "sardon spikes" as furniture (as was already pointed out) and warp points in houses; both as a tile you step on that would warp you to another tile, and also re-spawning somewhere specific on death. Dusty, you said it would be very hard to implement this given how the death system works. But how about an option to re-spawn to the starting spawn point of the house on death. I would be
extremely happy with just this. Surely it couldn't be too difficult to have your character simply spawn at the default spawn location when you die inside said house. You'd just need to run the "enter house" script upon death, wouldn't you?
Now, getting back to booby traps. Like I said, sardon's tower spikes would be great as furniture. But I would love to see more (so we can truly make some interesting obstacle courses). Some other ideas I have for booby trap-type furniture:
- Pits (Essentially one small square-sized pit of darkness, the size of a standard chair. You could buy as many as you want. You fall in, you warp back to the start, or perhaps lose 1 heart. This could be an option. To get a visual idea: Think of the pits in LttP. It would be even cooler if you gave it a similar animation)
- Fire (Similar to the torch furniture item in terms of appearance. Touching it would knock off half a heart and knock you back. You could make a maze entirely out of fire if you wanted to)
- Conveyer belt (Not so much a "booby trap" item, but something that could be a lot of fun. Think the conveyer belts used in the sushi room of the last nexus. You could adjust the speed of the belt and rotate them in any direction. While on a belt, you'd still be able to run freely, but of course you'd be pushed in whichever direction the belt is moving. I figure the length of the belt would be about 4 standard chairs long, but you could purchase multiple belts and put them next to each other to increase the length. Note: On the full speed setting, running in the opposite direction of the way the belt is moving would essentially have you running in place)
- Bumpers (Running into one would knock you back in the reverse direction. I'm also thinking these can work like pets in the sense that you can set them to randomly move around. I'm sort of thinking of the bumper enemies in LttP that would knock you back when you hit them with your sword, in an attempt to knock you into a pit)
Since you guys have basically put an end to bomb glitching (that's right, I know), it's become harder to find creative ways to make obstacle courses or have certain spots that are intended to be difficult to reach.
I think I speak for everyone when I say I would really,
really like to see this kind of stuff introduced into the current furniture & housing system.

It would be nice if the "Message on Touch" furniture option were touched-up a bit to where the message only appears if you touch the front of the furniture (instead of anywhere), like any other sign on graal.
Its really annoying when you walk behind, bump a side, or graze a corner of a piece of furniture and its message appears. Itd also be much easier to get through code shops.

YES!
Since this type of thing already exists (on signs, like you mentioned), surely it would be possible to add to furniture items (or at least certain furniture items). But just to be clear, I would like the
option to have the text only show up when touching the front of the furniture item. Example: Next to "Message on Touch", a little checkbox that says "Front Only" or something of the sort. And said checkbox would be unchecked by default.
