Giving was probably the way to go in my opinion. The top person had 15,000, I mean, you could just stay AFK for the entire event with 150 bowls and just hope that people enter, you would automatically get 5k candies without even having to lift a finger. I guess you can really only do this though if you have like a ton of gralats you have to waste.

And I'm sure a lot more of us would have done this, had we known beforehand that givers would get 1/3 back.
This would also have also encouraged more people to give candy. Everyone was under the impression, though, that there were no prizes for giving candy (except for the top 6, who would get trophies). Had they made it clear that giving candy would also yield a reward for everyone else, then things might have gone differently. I know I'd have a
lot more candy to spend. I think this would have solved a lot of problems and increase the candy output significantly.
This is really the only thing that I'm unhappy about. I think it was a pretty big mistake on their part (not making it clear beforehand).
