This is like suggesting someone buy an iPhone when all they want is an mp3 player.

Reading books on the iPad/tablet is horrendous. Its just as bad as reading on a computer screen.
I love the kindle. Its easy to read. E-ink ftw.

Also, book recommendations: Anything by John Green really. :3
