You must be really selfish to get yourself something and not get someone else something just because "it's not mandatory".
If you don't want to give anyone a gift because it's "not mandatory" *cringe* then don't even bother giving yourself something because it just makes you look like a jerk.

I don't owe anyone a favor in which I don't have to gift someone. Just because its a holiday doesn't mean I have to give someone something. When I'm referring to gifting yourself in real life, I'm referring to things that benefit your health/protection. Call me the Grinch but we're both accustomed to different beliefs. Sorry if I don't agree with yours.
