Ah, but you also have to consider the guns that we currently have nowadays. Even if the guns are not as strong as the ones from iEra, they are still stronger then melees from a distance I guarantee, just stay at a distance and fire instead of being in their face and you will win the match if they strictly use a melee I guarantee.
