It just looks too much like the anbu masks to me. I wouldn't be able to tell if it was from scratch unless you told me. Let's compare with this attached image. To me it looks like it was trimmed down a bit and the ears were removed. Now I'm not saying I don't believe you about making it from scratch, but that's just what it looks like to me. You can try and send it. It doesn't hurt to try.
