It is likely from the new water reflection effect. I plan to add the option to keep animated water but not display player reflections, which should give people more choice instead of just all-or-nothing disabling all the extra effects. The option should be up by this weekend along with one or two other options.

but i dont see why it should cause lag if your in a building with alot of players and there no water... maybe make it where the effect turns off when the water is out of view and turns back on when you see water? but it should just be fixable shouldnt it?
