The issue with Graal Classic is that the sacred gameplay was watered down in 1.3 (2000) to promote creativity; without much more thought, the egos of Tyhme and others who joined at this time have lost sight of how to correct longterm boredom. I've posted the solution elsewhere on these forums but it requires an upheaval of literally 15 years of blindness. It grieves me.
... And the problem is not Graal. It is the gameplay design that needs incredibly minor tweaks to create, but that would change the experience considerably enough I'm unsure if it will happen.
