Probably because asshole keeps placing lava.
Haha I kid, while settling 'liquids' does suck up a bunch of CPU cost, something like that shouldn't be crashing the server unless it trying to do it with a large field, like a 30x30x30 box in the air.
tl;dr, I don't participate on that server so I have no clue
