lame, boring, stupid, lifeless, dull, stale, stuffy, stodgy, uninteresting, futile, dumb, foolish, ludicrous, irrelevant, senseless, simple.

there's a lot of words you could use (ones that have a touch of intelligence too) that actually mean what you're putting forth in your statement. Gay, however, is not a synonym of the words above.
