No, they need to strip you of your clothes, then search your entire body, then put your clothes back on you and let you go through

It is now. It's using tiles to block now, so even if the NPCs take a while to load you shouldn't be able to walk past the guards. And if you do there's a backup NPC there to shove you back once the NPCs load.
