Not sure if this is related, but I snapped this photo of the moon with my Coolpix 600 Nikon camera - it can zoom up to 60x :o!
No tripod was used, so it looks a bit blurry...I'm actually thinking of getting a proper telescope and going out of the city (away from the light pollution) to get some photos of stars and clusters close up :o
