And there needs to be actual substance to a day/night system other than just looking pretty.
|
Day
1. Shops are open
2. You can catch butterflies, bees
3. You can catch certain types of fish
4. Guards are around to protect more, less areas are pk enabled
Night
1. Shops are closed, maybe you need to pay a small fee to enter or you pick the lock, but are then wanted, and the player who puts you down is rewarded.
2. You need a lantern to see where you are/going
3. You can catch fireflies, and spiders (if you spot with lantern)
4. Bars are open, all the dance/club places are open
5. There are less guards around, so certain areas are now pk enabled
6. Huge Spider spawns/other types of bosses are possible
7. Other types of fish are able to be caught, maybe a little more mysterious
Maybe even other gameplay mechanics could be added
1. You need to carry certain types of clothes/skaarf to keep warm during the night.
2. You need a lantern to go outside of the cities. If you are without a lantern at night, then you get warped to an Inn saying: "something hurt you and you are now here Example, you should really carry a lantern with you, it's not safe at night out there."
3. Maybe you lose a little gralats before being brought to the inn. (Bandits maybe), which give you the option to have quests like, "Get your money back from those bandits." Which you are then given the location to their whereabouts.
4. Players can probably be a good Samaritan, and light some of the pillars with their lanterns and provide a light source for those who are carrying torches. Explained in the next point.
5. Players will have to buy oil from shops to refuel their lanterns, the amount of light emitted from a lantern will let you know if it's full/almost empty (almost completely faded away).
6. For those who don't have the gralats to buy lanterns, you can pick up some sticks/torches for a measly 5-10g. Other players can use their lanterns to keep your torch lit, it helps if you bring a friend on your adventure.
7. Lantern shops could be added, helping out graal's economy by providing a lot of varieties for lanterns, and maybe some lanterns could last more than others, while others can emit more light providing you more vision.
I might add some more stuff later on, but for now that's all I can think of.
As to key points on why you want to go out during the day/night.
The light of day gives you the safety you need to do simple tasks.
The night gives you the sense of survivability, letting you do things only available at night (A totally different environment)
Once these are stable, you can later add other weather effects such as rain, lighting, fog (which has already been used for Halloween, but caused a lot of lag on PC), sandstorms, wind (like how destiny uses the gravity areas).
