google launcher is the first thing i did. is it possible to just use the same android that we'd get on the nexus devices (aka almost raw)?

nope
i wish it was. cyanogen is as good as it's going to get unless fixes are made to oxygen, which I don't think is going to happen since OnePlus are notorious for just ignoring any and all issues submitted.
