He gets money through donations and sales from his merchandise, and he does loan his campaign money. The idea of self-funding is mostly saying that he doesn't accept big amounts of money from businesses or wealthy people. I do wonder if he's going to get his money back or not. He said his lawyers just told him that using his money in the form of a loan was the easiest way to go, and he said he probably wouldn't expect his money back, but also said he doesn't know for certain yet.
